“Liam Mailbox” Capacity 2011
The word ‘capacity’, to me, is all about potential. I see my glass as being half empty, in a good way, because the rest of the glass has yet to be filled. For others, ‘capacity’ is a limitation imposed, their glass is half full and there is only so much further they can fill it. I see the mailbox with this same duality. At first glance, a mailbox is a very defined space, but it has the capacity for endless possibilities. The potential is immense, and it’s for this reason that we experience a small thrill when we open the mailbox each day. By pushing the boundaries of the mail ‘box’ away from a prescribed format, I hope LIAM will add something to that moment each day by reminding us of that potential.
